Lagos Police Rally Youths Against Political and Digital Thuggery for International Youth Day
The Lagos State Police Command has launched a Campaign Against Political and Digital Thuggery alongside a Police Youth Dialogue to mark International Youth Day 2026, themed Different Contexts, Common Aspirations, held at the POWA Secretariat, Oduduwa Street, Lagos. The programme, driven by the directive of Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at strengthening police youth relations and sensitising young people against political thuggery, digital thuggery and other forms of criminality, drawing participation from sister security agencies, the National Youth Service Corps, NANS, NURTW and youths from police barracks across the state. The dialogue gave participants an open platform to discuss policing, political participation, social media misuse and cultism, with the Command urging young people to channel their energy toward positive development and reject violence, intimidation and digital platforms used for criminal purposes. Engr Adigun Ibrahim Olalekan, Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Lagos State, was honoured as Police Youth Ambassador for his contributions to police youth relations, alongside recognition for leaders of NANS, CRAN and other youth focused organisations. Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Fatai, commended participating organisations and urged youth leaders, transport unions and community groups to take ownership of the campaign, reiterating that security remains a shared responsibility requiring credible and timely information from residents.
