Nigeria Mourns as Census Chief Wushishi Dies Mid Mission

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has expressed profound shock over the death of Dr Aminu Yusuf Wushishi, Chairman of the National Population Commission, describing his passing as a painful loss to the Commission, the public service and the nation. Idris described the late NPC Chairman, also known as the Talban Wushishi, as a close associate and committed public servant whose dedication to national development was evident even in his brief tenure, noting that Wushishi had set out with a clear vision to deliver a credible, technology driven Population and Housing Census that would provide reliable data for national planning. The Minister said Wushishi’s plans and commitment to the census reflected a deep sense of responsibility and a determination to leave a lasting contribution to Nigeria’s development, commiserating with the government and people of Niger State and the entire Wushishi community, where the deceased held a revered traditional title. Idris extended condolences to the family, colleagues, friends and staff of the NPC, praying that Allah grant them the strength to bear the loss and grant the deceased Aljannatul Firdaus.
